Private Conservation Properties current project is Hacienda Yurai an ecologically
important property located in the Turrialba, Cartago, region of Costa Rica. The farm
encompasses 740 acres (300 hectares) located at an altitude of 1900 -
In each community an ecological assessment is done on two main factors that provide
environmental value to a property: a nature study that details the wildlife and
plant species found on each property and an analysis of the carbon stock of the forest
calculates the carbon absorption of each property. The carbon stock analysis calculates
the carbon sto
red in the forest it also projects the future carbon absorption capacity
of the property. This carbon absorption capacity of the property allows the offsetting
of carbon emissions against the carbon absorption of the property. The carbon absorption
of the property may be used to become carbon neutral and to offset carbon emissions.
